Exploring the Use of Gall Mites for Weed Suppression

The North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NCR-SARE) Program has recommended funding of our 2025 Farmer Rancher Grant proposal! The project is entitled “Exploring the Use of Gall Mites for Field Bindweed Control in a Small-Scale Diverse Urban Farm Setting.” Of the 150 proposals submitted for review this winter, 41 were selected for funding! Look for updates on this project later in the year.

In 2019, we completed another SARE grant project entitled “Planting a Profitable Pollinator Habitat.” A video that summarizes our previous project is in the news section of our website. “North Central SARE strengthens communities, increases producers’ economic viability, and improves the environment through grants and education” (www.northcentral.sare.org).
